Does size matter? Size has always been an issue from the bedroom to the boardroom. In both rooms, people would brag, albeit more discreetly in the former, ‘Mine is bigger than yours.’ But what does this mean in the marketing sense? A large number of Twitter followers

A large gathering of people in a PR event

A large number of custom envelopes and print envelopes

A large number of print ads

A large number of hits

Marketers everywhere push for bigger is better on the assumption that raw numbers of things mean that you will increase your sales or market share.

Sounds logical, right? But what is the downside of some of these super sized strategies?

If you push for a long list in your Friendster and Facebook account, people will be turned off because they would know that it is being used as a marketing gimmick. Rather than becoming a marketing tool, these accounts become sources of derision.

A bigger email lists is prone to spamming and indiscreet actions with thousands of people who really don’t know or care about your product or service viewing your site just for the sake of viewing it. You may also cut corners in terms of gathering their email details. If you market to this type of list, you could end up being branded a spammer and losing all credibility.

Yes, big PR events and stunts can be a great way to build brand awareness, but they can also be extremely costly and may not result in actual increases in sales for your business.

Big is good in a way; but a small handful of loyal customers is better because you dont spend more. So, the next time you are tempted to “get more” take a deep breath and work out what exactly do you want more of, and how specifically can you get more of what you truly need and less of what you don’t.

All you have to do is use the appropriate sites and have the sites link to each other, when doing this be careful to pay attention to the guidelines of the sites you are using, as some sites will not allow certain links or other traffic building activities.

Here’s another method, maybe you have put up your video to your blog, you may want to think about submitting that URL to another social bookmarking site like diggs.com. Make sure that you also include links to all of the other video sites that you want to drive traffic to.

Now you might be asking yourself why would I want to send people to a site that they have already visited before? Well the whole point is this: when video’s are viewed they are usually voted on or rated, the more popular your video becomes the more viewers you attract will when new visitors visit those other websites.

C. Adding Incentive

It’s always a very good idea to give your visitors good reason to visit your website like a free report or something like that, your video’s should help do most of this work for you, however, there is always room for some improvement.

The same way you offer free reports or advice to get people to opt-in to you email list, you can use this method the same way with your video sites. Maybe you can tell them that you’ll have a code to use to access your traffic getting video’s, but only if they post your video on their websites first.

Why Use a Proxy Bypass?

If you work for an employer and have unmonitored internet access, then you can be barred from accessing certain IP addresses, such as those of the commonly used social networking sites. Facebook, Friendster, Twitter, MySpace and YouTube are the more common sites that employees tend to visit in company time. Your employer can stop this by preventing your computer from accessing the internet (IP) addresses of these sites.

If you have internet access at school, college or university, you will be even less supervised than at work, and few students have not tried to use school or college computers to access social networking sites. There again, the relevant IP addresses have a block or filter placed on them which only a proxy bypass can circumvent.

A block generally refers to a blanket bar placed on the entire network accessing specific addresses, while filters permit access to individual terminals, the users of which might have a legitimate use for them. Most sites are filtered while a few can be blocked, and a Facebook proxy might be needed by a student, for example, but not a faculty member.

The target websites themselves can place blocks on individual IP addresses, and if Friendster or Facebook has banned you and your internet address for some reason, then you can’t even re-register using a different name and email address unless you get a new internet connection with a different IP address. For example, if you are finding it difficult to connect to a specific website, such as a search engine, you can do so through a proxy. The principle behind a Facebook proxy is just the same as that of you connecting your computer to a router in a network to connect to the internet – all computers connected to that router will have the same IP address, and when you use a modem attached to your computer to bypass the router through a different internet connection, you will have a different IP address.

Proxy bypass sites don’t last forever. Once they have been detected and also blocked, you have to find another. However they can last for a long time, and new Facebook proxies are coming online as fast as they are being blocked. For that reason you should find a site that offers you a number of alternatives.

So next time you have difficulty accessing a specific website, whether it is Facebook, YouTube or anything else a proxy can help you. Bear in mind that they are rarely specific, and take the form of an address bar into which you enter the internet address of the site you want to access. In the case of a Facebook proxy bypass server you enter the Facebook address, but it usually also works with any other website address.
